Hand forged, curved blade with Bohi (gutter) with Chu-Kissaki (tip). The back of the blade is iori-mune. The blade is forged from 2 types of steel, the softer (low carbon) steel is placed within the harder tamahagane steel. This art of forging from the Japanese model Makuri which is taught, in Japan, only to the best blacksmiths and this for centuries. The two steels, forged folded (32768 sheets) and tempered using the traditional clay coating technique, reveal crystals of martensite and Hamon. This is only made visible on our blades by manual polishing. The hardness of the cutting edge is 61 ° HRC and the back 48 ° HRC.
