Michonne’s Katana – Sharp Functional Sword Inspired by The Walking Dead

This is a fully functional, sharpened katana inspired by the iconic sword wielded by Michonne, one of the most powerful characters in The Walking Dead series. Faithfully recreated with attention to detail, it blends traditional Japanese craftsmanship with the gritty, post-apocalyptic aesthetic of the show.

Unlike decorative replicas, this katana features a hand-forged 1045 carbon steel blade, sharpened and forged in maru construction with a symmetrical curve (torii sori). The saya (scabbard) is covered in brown faux leather and comes with an attached shoulder strap, just like Michonne’s in the series.

Suishinshi Masahide was considered one of the three most skilled blacksmiths of the EDO period (1603-1868).

He was primarily known for initiating the Shin-Shinto movement by introducing the ancient way of sword crafting from earlier eras such as Kamakura and Muromachi to the evolving Edo blacksmith industry. Suishinshi challenged the routine of sword smiths by forging katanas that were of very hard steel to restore their original purpose as a weapon and not a pageantry.

Mizuchi is a water dragon that lives in the Kawashima River. Mizuchi (蛟) nicknamed the hornless dragon murdered travelers by spitting venom at them. Agatamori, ancestor of the clan of Kasa no Omi, went to the river and challenged the dragon. Agatamori threw three gourds (gourd-shaped fruit) into the river which remained on the surface of the water. He asked Mizuchi to make the gourds flow, otherwise he might have to kill him.

In the streets of Japan, the inconspicuous handleless contraption was used, especially towards the end of the 19th century. At that time, the emperor prohibited the keeping of samurai swords. The Shirasaya looked a lot like a wooden sword or a wooden staff, was a smart way to carry the sword without being noticed.

Kujaku Katana

Kujaku is a variety of Koi carp, which in Japan is a very common fish in culture. Indeed it represents both bravery, perseverance, courage and love. This fish can reach its maximum length of one meter for 15 kilos.
